Testimonies of members of the US Army, residents of Volary, female SS guards and the wife of an SS guard in the Helmbrechts subcamp

Scope and content

The subunit contains interviews with the following persons:

I) Members of the 5th Infantry Division of the US Army (mainly doctors and paramedics),
II) German physician Theodor Durst (in Volary since September 1943), who issued the death certificates for the deceased prisoners,
III) Wanda Kobler, who from January 1945 lived with her husband, SS supervisor Paul Kobler, in the Flossenbürg subcamp Helmbrechts,
IV) Two SS guards Charlotte Stummer and Herta Haase-Breitmann (head female overseer). Both accompanied the death march from Helmbrechts to Volary.
V) A factory owner from Volary (Oscar Knäbel), in whose workplace the Polish forced laborers were accommodated,
VI) The doctor Johann Pimmer from Volary, who was to examine the prisoners on the orders of the SS.
