Wave 68 – 62nd-63rd Osttransport, intended for CC Sachsenhausen and CC Ravensbrück, 02/02/1945 – 03/27/1945
Scope and content
Contains:
I) Correspondence of the Stapoleitstelle Berlin to the Chief Finance President concerning the confiscation of property of the deported Jews. The Gestapo letter concerning the 62nd Osttransport (cf. Doc ID: 127213279) also refers to the 116th “Transport of the Elderly” (the corresponding transport list can be found in 15510061b). According to the letter of the Stapoleitstelle the blue checkmarks found on the transport list of the 116th “Transport of the elderly” marked foreign Jews whose property had not been confiscated.
II) Transport lists: 62-63th Osttransport - intended for CC Ravensbrück (with names of 25 female prisoners) and CC Sachsenhausen (with names of 26 male prisoners), 02/02/1945 – 03/27/1945.
According to research carried out by employees of the International Tracing Service, the 62nd and 63rd Osttransport were sent to Theresienstadt (file notes May/June 1969, see "Work copies"). According to the database of Yad Vashem both deportation trains went together with the 122nd and the 123rd “Transport of the Elderly” to Theresienstadt, where the deportees of the "Ostttransporte" were separated and imprisoned in the prison (so-called "Small Fortress"). Yad Vashem bases the information on testimonies of witnesses.
