Scope and content

This sub-collection contains microfilmed correspondence files (T/D cases) the ITS destroyed after filming to create store room in the deposit of T/D correspondence files between 1964 and 1976. The number series to be destructed were selected at random. The T/D case numbers de-allocated were re-used for new requests. References to correspondence files deleted can be found along with the microfilm deposit number on the respective inquirer cards in the Central Name Index.

T/D files is the Term for the Aroslen Archives case files for tracing or other research concerning an individuals. the term “T/D” has been used since about 1948 [hitherto the term “No. T-” or simply “T.”, for “Tracing”, had been used by ITS predecessor organizations such as the Central Tracing Bureau.
